I tried if I could write actionscript in 2003, this is what I came up with. The levels (ie. the background graphic and the amount of "gravity") change every two levels or so, I think.
The enemies just try to home in on the players position but have a semi-random pattern to veering a bit off-target depending on the enemy type. They also have different weapons that they shoot in different frequencies depending on type (duh).
The BG graphics slow down frame rate enormously. The number in the upper right hand is the FPS counter and the number in the lower right is the inertial multiplier.
The plasma cannon is probably the best weapon in the game, the mass driver is cool but has k-razy recoil. Be aware that buying different weapons overwrites the old weapons and you don't get any compensation IIRC.
Obviously I never got around to finishing the game. Maybe I should write a new one with just vector graphics in Canvas, or something...
